President
Darlene Harris
Founder and current Director of Women of Courage, Inc., Darlene founded the ministry in May 1993. She and her husband, Fred, have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren. Darlene was raised in Southeast Alaska, the daughter of a commercial fishing family. She graduated from Kings High School in Seattle, which is now Christa Ministries. She attended Pikes Peak Community College for two years. She has served in various churches in women and children’s ministry and as a local officer for 10 years with Women’s Aglow Fellowship. God has given her a passion for single mom families and a vision to see the Women of Courage model established in churches across the country.

Kitsen Goldberg

Kitsen was raised in Colorado Springs and Black Forest on a quarter horse ranch, attended Falcon High School and graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism in 1983. Kitsen married Doug in 1983 and they have three boys; Grant, Eric, and Trevor. Grant is currently attending the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and was recently married to Alison Smith. Eric will be attending the University of New England in the fall of 2008 and Trevor will continue to attend Colorado Springs Christian Schools (CSCS) for his last year of Middle School. Kitsen worked for the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald, Daniel Communications, Colorado Home Builders Association and the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau before starting her family. Currently, she volunteers at CSCS, administers Doug’s 13-year- old competitive baseball team, and helps with the Christmas gift program for Women of Courage in addition to decorating and landscaping projects at their office buildings.

James A. Ferrier

Director of Publishing, Community Bible Study
James, an Indiana Pennsylvania native, is passionate about spiritual formation and community involvement. He is past president of the Christian Leadership Alliance and is serving as a director on the boards of Women of Courage, Live Fully Engaged Ministries and Living for God, all in Colorado Springs. A former pastor, he was a founding member of the board of the Community Roundtable and past president of the Coweta Ministerial Alliance. He serves as a pro bono ministry management consultant with several Colorado Springs  non-profits with expertise in communications and fundraising.

Betty Martinez

A Colorado Springs, Colorado native. Betty is a former business owner who retired in 2001 and started working for Women of Courage, Inc. in 2003. Betty has been married to Alfred for 49 years and has three sons and three grandchildren. Betty served on the Board of Christian Women’s Club-North for 28 years. Betty attended Pikes Peak Community College for two years majoring in child psychology and has a heart for single moms.
David Guthrie

David Alan Guthrie

David Alan Guthrie was born on February 1, 1939 in Akron, Ohio. Currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado, David married his French sweetheart, Gisele Lanceleur in 1960 and they have two children and 4 grandchildren. He served in the United States Army from February 1958 until February 1978. David served in the 1st Aviation Brigade Assault Helicopters inVietnam. He was honorably discharged and retired in March of 1978. David worked for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the Denver District Office from July, 1979 until May, 2004. David currently volunteers as Chaplain for Memorial Hospital and Radiant Churchas well as serves as Director of Prayer Ministries there.

Board Member                                                                                                                Dave Ruckman

Dave Ruckman is an ordained minister who lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with his wonderful wife Sara and two children. He is a respected pastor in our community. Dave studied Bible and Missions at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota. He has also studied theology at Denver Seminary and at the Colorado Springs campus of Fuller Theological Seminary. Dave and Sara have served in full time ministry since 1994. Dave is actively involved in serving on the sectional committee for the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God, and as a Convener for the Spiritual Formation Network. After ministering at a thriving church in Colorado Springs for ten years, Dave and Sara ventured out to establish Journey Church. They are currently the lead pastors of this growing community of believers.
